PROJECT OVERVIEW

Chef David Scott is on the board of the New Hanover County Weekend Meals on Wheels program here in Wilmington, NC. Being a part of this organization, he saw firsthand the need for a little extra help with feeding our community. Growing up with food insecurity himself, he understands that it’s important to be able to get through “the red tape” easily. Whether your family is waiting for government assistance, or maybe didn’t get approved — 86 Hunger Now understands that hunger can’t wait. 

“We wanted to talk a little bit about how this started, “what are we doing, why are we doing it?” My heart is with feeding struggling families. I grew up with food insecurity. I completely understand what it’s like to open the cupboard and wonder, “what am I going to make with these ingredients?” If we are able to change one day of your week with a chef cooked meal, delivered to your home; that is really our goal.”
