Check out this white logo variation for one of my amazing clients 🌊
Whether you are choosing a design firm or a free lance designer (like myself), please keep in mind that logo variations are so important. Even variations as simple as having your logo readily available in additional colors and formats. Your designer should be like a new team member, telling you what to use when!
If you don’t need it now, you will. — scroll to the end to see the original design 🧜♀️
“It’s so much more than just a logo!” One of the most important aspects of creating a brand design is considering how that design is going to be used. From large business signs to small print like business cards… your logo should be identifiable, scalable, and be strong enough to represent your brand no matter how it’s being used.
Here is one of my favorite design projects to date — my time working with The Children’s Museum of Wilmington was special in so many ways. One of those being having the opportunity to watch my design work in many forms. We redid the website, did a full rebrand, made t-shirts, signs, flyers, stickers, aprons, internet ads, magazine ads, cards, business cards, mouse pads, and so much more with the help of local businesses like @artphics and @dockstreetprinting 😍
Keep this in mind when choosing your logo designer and your primary logo. It is the first thing that people see. Make a great first impression and accurately represent your brand at every touch point. Click the link in my bio to go to my website & check out this full project. 📲
There’s something so crispy about classic black & white variations. 🖤

𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝘁 + 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻: Against all odds, I have been doing art and design work for most of my life. In August of 2022, I decided to quit my 9-5 job and turn my freelancing experience into a full time business: Longshore Art + Design LLC. I am an artist, muralist, graphic designer, digital marketing/social media manager, consultant, and more. I create original art pieces, I take on special art commissions, and I also work with many small businesses, start ups, bars, schools, and non profit organizations all over North Carolina. I enjoy helping clients large and small execute their vision. My work is truly the love of my life.
𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗲: My business slogan (and life slogan) is “A little bit of everything and all things creative.” I’ve been told by a business consultant that Longshore Art + Design offers too many different things, and that I need to focus on less to be successful. But the truth is, I left the “grind/hustle” culture because I needed to do something different. It may not be conventional, and it may not last forever, but I wake up every day knowing that what I’m doing is 100% me. Not only do I want to do what I want, but I want to do it how I want to do it. My vision and my values as a small business owner are something I refuse to compromise on. That is success.
Thank you for your endless support for me and my craft. I have worked incredibly hard to be doing what I’m doing. I feel so lucky, blessed, and am learning more and more every day. What I’m doing is a little unconventional (much like many things in my life) but I am loving and embracing every waking moment. Learn more about me and Longshore Art + Design by visiting my website. Aqua Splash LLC is a new locally owned and operated pool service company based out of Leland, NC serving serving Brunswick and New Hanover County! Commercial and residential. Aqua Splash takes the hassle out of owning and maintaining a healthy, sparkling pool.
The past few weeks I have been working closely with owners, Cindy and Lee Kent, developing a website/strategy that will serve not only Aqua Splash but make the user experience as easy as possible. As a small business owner myself, I know that there is often a lot of back and forth in the early phases of booking. We created a one stop landing page style website where clients are able to fill out a form virtually, download the welcome packet, and get all the information needed! The intention is to make the process as quick and easy as possible.
Working with Aqua Splash has been such a pleasure and I can confidently put my stamp of approval on this company!

The best part about living in a beach town as a small creator is meeting all of the coastal clients! 𝗦𝗲𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 is a new, female owned interior boat cleaning company based out of Morehead City, NC. Owner and operator, Nicole Buck, has loved being on the water her entire life. I wanted to take this into consideration when moving forward with the development of this project for her.
We revamped the 𝗦𝗲𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 logo and designed a simple but effective landing page style website with a classic booking form to send clients to. My favorite part of the project was the branding materials that we created! T-shirts, (using @forddesigngroup), Stickers (using @artphics), business cards, brochures, cups, and more!!

WELCOME TO BEACH BOWLS! 🌊
@beachbowlsnc
Being a part of the evolution of this space has been one of the highlights of my journey as an artist so far! This project has been one of my favorites because the vibe/vision is carried throughout. We looked not only at the entire space as a whole, but also focused on each individual area.
But more importantly, it is so special to me to see female business owners around my age, doing what they love while also creating safe spaces for the LGBT community to work and visit. A huge shout out to the owner, Leslie Allred, I can’t wait to work together on your next big project 😉

Super excited to be a part of Featured Wilmington Artists for New Hanover High School alongside so many amazing artists! Learn a little about me here. 🎨🖥️
How did you get started?
"I started drawing and studying master artists when I was in elementary school."
Have you always been interested in this field?
"I have always wanted to be an artist ever since I can remember. Even as a young girl I loved to paint, draw, color, and create!"
What are some exciting aspects of your field?
"I get to be my true authentic self every day. I love getting to choose who I work with. I love doing something different every day. I love meeting new people. Each project I take on is a new exciting challenge but I enjoy every second of it..."
What are some challenges of your field?
"…the main challenge is this field of work lacks stability. With a normal job, you know where your next paycheck is coming from no matter what. With this type of project based work, you get out of it what you put into it."
What else should be known about you or your field?
"If I could go back in time, I would tell myself to stop caring about what other people think of me and my work………. Art is truly subjective. Some of the best art is abstract or nonrepresentational. All that matters is that you are happy with yourself and your work. While I take mostly commissions, I always make time to make art that makes my heart happy. Whether you are feeling happy, sad, mad, of feeling nothing; art can be an amazing outlet. Keep creating, no matter what."
Thank you to Tosha Raynor for the opportunity! It is because of caring teachers that I am still doing what I love. ♡
Your social media account is a great tool to help establish your brand’s identity! 📲🎨
Check out this before and after on Instagram by simply updating the highlights images to match/complement the brands colors and logos. I created custom icons to match the current visuals (using @procreate) but you can use free design websites such as @canva to create your own images/icons. Be sure to keep in mind that icons used from third party clip art are NOT able to be trademarked – but can be fun and easy way to add some design elements to your social media accounts!
Another great improvement is to use a free service like @linktr.ee to have important quick links available such as specific website pages that you reference in your posts!
*I did not create the original logos. I used the current logos to create the other icons for the highlights folders.*

A fun project this week for @carolina_country_store located in the @wilmingtoncitymarket on Front Street. This is the sweetest local business who supports artisans and employees with disabilities. Everything in this store was made in NC! Thank you to my favorite @drishel75 with @davidscottmedia917 for the opportunity!
Next time you’re in the area be sure to check out @thehopyardnc in Raleigh NC. This bottle shop is truly a hidden gem and also has wine, cocktails, non alcoholic beverages (such as CBD drinks), and more. I painted the hops lady last year in their lounge and we decided it was time to bring in some more art/color/design throughout the whole the place. What do you think? 💚

This week I had a meeting at NourishNC. I had the opportunity to tour and learn all about this local non profit. NourishNC works to provide children and their families with food to help fight hunger and food insecurity in our community.
I was most fascinated by “The Mom” or The Market on Market (pictured). I was surprised to learn that 1 in 5 children struggle with hunger in New Hanover County. Families are able to make their own selections and enjoy their shopping experience at The Mom.

Dolly Parton
Dolly
Acrylic and oil on canvas
18 in x 24 in
Jan 2023
Check out this piece in person at @royalstudiosilm
Dolly was born the 4th of 12 children. She came from deep in Appalachia, where music was an integral part of life for those who, like the Partons, struggled to make a hard living. Her mother was a singer who taught Dolly both church music and the Elizabethan ballads her ancestors brought to America. By the time Dolly was 10 years old she was on TV on a variety show in Nashville TN. She made her first guest appearance at the Grand Ole Opry at age 13. Parton’s first solo #1 hit was her composition “Joshua” (1971), which led to three more #1 songs in 1974: “Jolene,” “Love Is Like a Butterfly,” and “I Will Always Love You.” She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of fame in 1999. She has been a singer/song writer, an actress, and is now a successful businesswoman and a philanthropist doing what she can with her platform to help others.

I can't believe I haven't shared this project with Insta yet! One of the biggest projects I completed in 2021 (and in my life) was the full website redesign and logo redesign for The Children's Museum of Wilmington. It took me a little over 6 months and is still an ongoing, ever evolving project. Here is a sneak peak into just a few of my favorite components of this project. 💙
I love working with small, local operations that care about their community and are doing their part to put some good back out into the world!

Please take a moment to check out my latest project! A new branding and website design collaboration with one of my favorite local photographers. TAD Photos is a small traveling photography company based out of Holden Beach, North Carolina.
Owner Tela Diliberto and I worked on this project for weeks carefully curating the perfect website and logos to accurately represent her and her company! During this process, I had the time to comb through her amazing catalogue. She offers and specializes in a variety of services from wedding photography, videography, and coordination to family portraits, to boudoir, to even real estate, and the list goes on. This girl and this company truly do it all. Her clients rave about their experiences but one thing in particular stood out that they all have in common. They all say she made them feel comfortable, like they had known her forever. What sets TAD apart from other similar companies is that no matter what the project is, Tela welcomes you in like family which is very important especially for those of us not so comfortable in front of the lens…
I truly believe we were able to convey that feeling through this project! Go check her out and consider TAD for your next event, wedding, shower, or whatever! She is open to so many types of projects, places, and budgets. 10/10 recommend. 🖤

Three months of hard work is finally coming to a close in the Toddler Treehouse room at The Children’s Museum of Wilmington. I can’t believe that the planning meetings for this project began almost one year ago!! I may have been the artist, but a whole team put many hours into revamping the exhibit, brainstorming ideas, writing the grants for funding, and so much more behind the scenes work to bring this to life. Funding for this exhibit was provided by New Hanover County and The Landfall Foundation.
This exhibit is intended to be an enchantingly immersive experience to help children learn about North Carolina wildlife, plants and animals. Some of my favorites in this project include wildlife such as the Great Blue Heron, White-Tailed Deer, Red Foxes, Eastern Swallowtail Butterflies and include plants such as Wood Anemones, Swamp Milkweeds, Carolina Lillies, and more. My personal touch was hiding 8 fairy homes around the room. 🧚♀️🌸🌱
Some of the history: While this historic building has been home to the Museum since 2003, it was originally the St. John’s Lodge which is the oldest Masonic lodge in North Carolina (built in 1801). It was later turned into a residential home, a small school house, and then a tavern, all before being purchased and transformed into the Museum. My contribution may be small, but I am honored to have been able to do my part. Thank you to @childrensmuseumwilmington for the opportunity!
